A few kilometers from Mattinata, facing the sea, there is the steep and overhanging cliff of Mt. Saraceno. The place, with its evidences of activity dating back to the Bronze Age, houses a necropolis-sanctuary that has provided essential evidences for the knowledge of the civilization of Daunia. From Mt. Saraceno to Mt. Sacro, where we will find the imposing ruins of an ancient Benedictine abbey. Climbing to the mountain top, the charm of the ruins will combine with the charm of the surrounding landscape, dominated in the background by the plateau of Mattinata olive groves.
