The central position of Sila National Park with respect to the regional morphology gives the opportunity to reach it by car both if you come from the Ionian area along SS 106, and if you come from the Tyrrhenian area along SS 18. However, in both cases, with its exits in Cosenza, Rogliano, Altilia Grimaldi and in the south of Lamezia Terme, the highway «A3» represents the first way of communication to choose if you must drive for many kilometers. Then, you must transversally climb to the Sila territory, which lies longitudinally between Cosenza and Catanzaro. The road SS 107 Silano-Crotonese represents an excellent intermediate route within the district and is ideally equidistant from Sila Greca, Grande, and Piccola. The express way 280 of the Two Seas, on the isthmus Lamezia Terme-Catanzaro and in the south the SS 281 of Rosarno, gives the opportunity to take alternative routes.
Ferrovie dello Stato offer a diversified range of choices to reach the Park by train.
Paola, Lamezia Terme, Catanzaro, and Crotone railway stations are the main points where you can set off to the Sila, with the narrow-gauge line of Ferrovie della Calabria (Cosenza-Catanzaro and vice-versa). Another stretch by steam locomotive
- Camigliatello, San Giovanni in Fiore, Camigliatello - is ready to
satisfy the curiosity of travelling with vintage means of transport.
The bus service, private or managed by Ferrovie della Calabria, are essential to complete your journey to the chosen destinations. During the summer, from the Ionian coast every day and also from the Tyrrhenian coast, they climb to the Sila.
If you choose to travel by plane, in less than two hours from Milan and Turin and even in less time from Rome and Bologna, you can reach the two nearest airports to Sila: Lamezia Terme airport on the Tyrrhenian side and Crotone S. Anna airport on the Ionian side.
