The Park represents the watershed between Langhe Piemontesi hills and the valleys created by the river Bormida of Spigno Monferrato branch, is situated in the territory of the Municipality of Piana Crixia, and borders with the Provinces of Alessandria, Cuneo, Asti, and Savona.
It includes an intact landscape characterized by a strong contrast between the plains (always exploited by man for agricultural purposes) and the overlooking mountains (sometimes also harsh) generated by very ancient erosion/sedimentation phenomena that have given origin to a real outdoor geomorphological park where gray tufa open fans (gullies) have given way to river terraced areas, embanked meanders, the imposing 15m high stone mushroom, the fossiliferous areas scattered throughout the municipal territory.
It is a Park dominated by nature, where the succession of seasons colors or darkens the life of its inhabitants... from the tiny and concealed flowers of the wild orchids in spring to the chromatic change of the monumental trees in autumn or the haughtiness of the ancient Langa stone shelters on the snow-clad slopes in winter.
Piana Crixia is a protected area of Ligurian Apennines where lanscapes and nature can astonish tourists and harmonize their souls. In this protected area, you will find only this, with no further frills.
