A large part of this path follows the outflow channel of the Lura stream from Uggiate (where it flows) to Saronno.
Along this route we can rediscover a historic road that in the Middle Ages formed an important network linking Milan to Mendrisiotto and Lugano.
For centuries, stage coaches and post coaches and wagons, carrying goods, passed along this road on their way to and from Milan, the capital of the Duchy. Since everyone used horses as a means of transport, this road was called "Cavallina".
