The Dorsale Pedestre Insubrica was created back in 1990 with the help of Italian mayors from across the border, and is a green symbol of connection and continuity between neighbouring countries.

At that time, after several meetings with the mayor of Novazzano and the mayors of Uggiate Trevano, Bizzarrone and Valmorea, the paths through the wooded area of the so-called Monti di Novazzano were joined with the Mendrisiotto ridge. Starting from Stabio (from Santa Margherita) you can go to Bizzarone, or from Novazzano you can go to Uggiate Trevano.
