Proposals and Projects for School Year 2023/2024
Walking on an ancient sea bottom among the fossil traces of invertebrates and molluscs, a unique experience that takes us back to the sea of millions of years ago. Tha Park is the ideal place for schools and teachers who are willing to discover not only geology and palaeontology, but also the flora and fauna present today.
But the Park offers much more: it is the laboratory where you could assess the effects of climate change and where you could understand that soil is life and must be treated with respect, that some near natural landscapes need our care and that history and culture have shaped (not without contradictions) a unique landscape!

educational proposal and experience it in the Parco dello Stirone e del Piacenziano, choosing from:
Priority Proposals: at reduced costs for the schools of the Municipalities (**) within the Parks and the Reserves, until the budget available lasts. The themes proposed for school year 2023/2024, divided into different activities suitable for all school grades, are:
- Funzioni ecosistemiche (Ecosystem functions): From forest to soil, the functions of ecosystems;
- Cambiamenti climatici (Climate change): From a local to a global scale, how to observe it all around us!;
- "A Scuola in Agrilab" (At School at Agrilab)", our cuisine - workshop at the Corte di Giarola (Collecchio PR). Thanks to the project "Il cibo conta, fallo contare! (Food counts, make it count!"), two activities are possible, one aimed at the 1st cycle of primary schools and the other at the 2nd cycle of primary school and lower secondary school.
- "A Scuola al MuMAB (At School at MuMAB)", guided tour of the Museo Mare Antico e Biodiversità (Ancient Sea and Biodiversity Museum) in San Nicomede (Salsomaggiore Terme, PR) and field trip; workshop activities as a supplement.
Special Projects: complex educational paths resulting from co-designing activities with teachers on priority themes proposed by the Authority; at a reduced cost for schools of the Municipalities (**) within the Parks and the Reserve. The special projects for school year 2023/2024 are:
- Siamo tutti BIOdiversi (We are all BIOdiverse): biodiversity in the Protected Areas;
- Il ritorno del lupo (The wolf is back): stories of prey and predators;
- L'importanza della fauna "minore" (The importance of "minor" fauna): amphibians, reptiles, micro mammals, fish and insects;
- Gli alieni tra noi (The aliens among us): the spread of alien species and local biodiversity;
- Acque correnti (Running waters): dynamics, ecology and river management;
- Il legno che...vive (Wood that...lives): forest ecology and the functions of deadwood for biodiversity;
- Coltivare...il paesaggio (Cultivating...the landscape): agrobiodiversity and productions;
- Aree verdi Bene comune (Green areas as a Common Good): actions for the care and protection of the land;
- Consumo di suolo (Soil consumption): the importance of the soil and its protection.
Experiences, Cultural Trips, Workshops: educational activities, often linked to the territory and consolidated over the years, aimed in particular at classes wishing to take an educational trip to a protected area. They can be carried out entirely in the field or be accompanied by preparatory or in-depth meetings.
PCTO (School-Work Alternation) Projects for Secondary Schools
Between December 2022 and May 2023, class 1°G of the Liceo Classico e Linguistico Romagnosi in Parma was involved in the PCTO (School-Work Alternation) project, thanks to their motivated teacher Katia Carbonara. The aim of the project was to study, reorganise and promote the fossil and mineral finds housed in the school museum. This led to the creation of ROMUS, an exhibition space created by the students in collaboration with experts from the Ducato Parks.
