Parco Fluviale Regionale del Taro

In the past it was a lunar desert, a dusty gravel quarry where lines of trucks went out from. Today it is one of northern Italy's most important (and biggest) artificial wetlands, a destination chosen by many visitors, also from abroad, and by school groups. Making the biodiversity blossom in a desert was a hard work for the park.
Banks and escarpments with different gradients and depths, islands, peninsulas and islets. "Nature will take its course", as people usually say, but in this case the park made its contribution: remarkable interventions on the vegetation, the planting of rare water plants' seeds and other actions made the "course of nature" much faster.
