Bosco di Malabotta is a woodland par excellence, even if it should be considered a forest for its natural features. It has a great ecological value, not only for its integrity, but also for its great environmental diversity, given to the extension of the reserve in altitude.

Bosco di Malabotta is dominated for about 80 hectares by the Turkey Oak, a oak with a royal posture that can reach the 30 meters of height and can be recognized not only for the characteristic carvings of the leaves, but also for the big-size cupule of its acorns which are protected by linear and curled scales.

The animals living in the reserve represent a real sample of the Sicilian fauna which has here a great value, given the important natural features of the wood: among the microfauna, the arthropods are of great importance (they are small invertebrates commonly associated with spiders, insects, and crustaceans), present here with many endemic species.
