Open in May 2011 within the wonderful ancient castle in Punta Troia in the Marettimo Island, the Visitor Center of the Foca Monaca Observatory was created in collaboration with ISPRA within the project for the monitoring of the species Monachus monachus. Here visitors will find a press review on the discovery of the presence of the Mediterranean Monk Seal in the Egadi Islands, some descriptive panels on the most important and endangered species in the Mediterranean sea and on the most interesting and significant species, as far as the conservation theme is concerned, living in the Egadi Islands Marine Protected Areas.
The castle can be reached on foot by walking a 3-km-long path starting from the village or through a boat service with departure from the village's small port, and arrival at the beach of Scalo Maestro.
