Elements of great naturalistic, archaeological, and ethno-anthropological interest make of Pantalica a unique site in the world. In the overhanging walls on the river Anapo, dug into the rock, there is the largest necropolis in Europe: a beehive (what a coincidence: according to the tradition, the Siculans are recalled as the People of the Bees) with 5,000 graves.
