Even if its cultivation covers a limited territory of about 12 hectares, Breme onion has a well-established tradition, with the festival held in June in this Municipality of Lomellina area. The alluvial soils better develop the features of Breme red onion, characterized by a garnet red color, soft pulp, and generally sweet taste. The bulb has an elongated and flat shape, a diameter of about 12-13 cm and a weigh going from 400 to 600 grams. After a drying period of 10-15 days in the field, onions are put into boxes and can be preserved until September, provided they are preserved in cool, dry, and dark places.
