The lap "Il Po dei Laghi" (the Po of the Lakes) crosses a flat territory between the alpine chain in the west and Collina Torinese in the north, characterized by the solemn past of the House of Savoy, by Gothic and Baroque evidences in the historical town centers of Racconigi, Carmagnola, Carignano, and Moncalieri, with two royal castles safeguarded by Unesco, the rich agriculture with its vast cultivated fields and precious vegetables (Carmagnola sweet peppers and leeks, Carignano Jerusalem artichoke, Santena asparagus), scattered with farmsteads and big artificial lakes deriving from the environmental recovery activities of the mining industries along the river Po.
