The river is navigable by canoe from Isola Dovarese, at the bottom of a double artificial drop, up to the bridge of boats of Torre d'Oglio, one of the rare pontoon bridges left in Northern Italy. The current is not strong, and the only difficulties are represented by the bridges (5 altogether) and by the outcropping banks of sand which can be seen only when the current ripples. Be careful if you want to navigate along the river Po, because the "big river" presents insidious whirpools.
