This itinerary can be considered as an alternative final stretch of the route by mountain bike and on horseback 1 (Pian dei Prati, Strada della Todt, Cantoniera, Pianello, San Pietro, Carpegna): therefore, instead of entering the Turkey oak wood as suggested before, when you get near the centuries-old beech tree dominating the landslide of Sasso Simone, we suggest to head for the summit plateau of the calcareous massif and return to Carpegna by following part of the outward journey itinerary.
