Area Marina Protetta Capo Carbonara

In the seabed next to Isola dei Cavoli, at 11 meters of depth, there is a sculpture by Pinuccio Sciola representing the Madonna del Naufrago (the Madonna of the Castaway).
Over three meters high, the statue - made with pink trachyte from Ozieri - is visible also from the surface with the help of a diving mask.
The feast is held in late July, with a charming procession by sea.
An underwater mass is celebrated at the foot of the statue while people, on the surface, can listen to the word of the priest thanks to a special sound system.
