The trail leaves from Ponte Gregoriano. Take the road on the left leading to entrance no. 2. Since the muscles won't be ready yet, it is recommended to go along the uphill path slowly. After Podere Rogheta and after a short downhill stretch, we will reach the entrance no. 2 of the Reserve. After Casale Sambucheto, Porta di Ferro, and what remains of Tetto Rosso, the trail will be easier and develop along a road which, after a large bend towards the right, runs along Monte Rufeno hill. A thick chestnut tree woodland shading the trail leads to Casale Felceto. One of the over 40 panels informs us we are following for a while the Path of the Brigands.
The route includes some short and not demanding technical passage on a stony bottom up to the ford of Fosso del Gambero and, after a short uphill stretch, reaches the demonstration charcoal pile area. After gate no. 3, follow the downhill path for over 4 km, turn right at the crossroads, and return to the departure point.
