Riserva Naturale Monte Rufeno

Environmental Education - School Year 2018/2019

Environmental Education has always been one of the priority activities carried out by Monte Rufeno Nature Reserve. The collaboration with the local schools has been developed with programs prepared according to the needs of the teachers who, together with the operators of the protected area, draw up the projects to include in the school program. Over the years, the protected area has created various structures where it is possible to deal with environmental issues. These structures include:

• The Flower Naturalistic Museum inside Casale Giardino, where visitors can discover in an interactive circuit the wonderful world of flowers, as well as their interaction and importance for the environment.
• The astronomical oasis situated in Casale Monterufeno, where the members of the Association Pegasus with their professional technological equipment give visitors the opportunity to admire the wonderful sky vault.
• The Casale House of traditions near an old olive grove, immersed in the woods of Monte Rufeno Nature Reserve, has been rebuilt and furnished with the specific purpose of reviving the past atmosphere of rural life.
• The Workshop of the Earth, located at Cava dei Bianchi inside the Reserve, hosts workshops for geology and pedology knowledge. 

There is also a water mill, an old structure now completely restored along the Subissone stream, in the municipality of Torre Alfina, that could be visited upon request.
