The great ecological "success" of Vendicari is given to its manifold habitat, which can be divided into different biotopes: rocky coast, sandy coast, Mediterranean maquis, marshes (brackish and freshwater), salt pans, garigue, and cultivated areas. The local fauna is very rich in birds and varies according to the seasons and the physiology of the animals.
