The great ecological "success" of Vendicari is given to its manifold habitat, which can be divided into different biotopes: rocky coast, sandy coast, Mediterranean maquis, marshes (brackish and freshwater), salt pans, garigue, and cultivated areas.

The Joint Pine, a very branched shrub which can reach the 3 meters of height, usually with hemispherical shape, is formed by green and supple cylindrical and twisted branches, which fork in 2, or in small groups of 3-5.

The local fauna is very rich in birds and varies according to the seasons and the physiology of the animals: in summer, the marshes are not very deep because of evaporation, and do not offer the same opportunities they offer in spring. For this reason, in June-July only a few summer migratory birds remain.
