Cilento and Vallo di Diano National Park is a crossroads of several ancient trails and represents, along the Southern Apennines, the heart of the national trail network. Walking along the ancient itineraries leading to the most fascinating places of the Park, surrounded by panoramas and landscapes going from the sea to the hills and to the mountains, the uncontaminated nature of this protected area bewitches and seduces.
The Park Authority, whose goal is to safeguard and enhance the territory paying particular attention to its most important features, promotes the practice of hiking as non-competitive discipline: "Walking to discover and safeguard". Such approach, together with the creation of an adequate trail network, implements a management model enabling the enhancement of the protected territory considering the environmental, economic, and social aspects, also through the rediscovery of its great cultural heritage and developing the awareness of the local communities.
Moreover, it is a way to promote trekking, which should not only be considered a sport, but above all an instrument to discover the environment, the territory, and the culture of the local communities, encouraging a slow and quality tourism based on hiking, a practice used to discover, visit, and enhance the territory.
