Appennnino Lucano National Park does not offer only breathtaking landscape beauties: endless woodlands, imposing mountains forming the setting of river Agri, and its wonderful valley represent the heart of modern Basilicata, but they have also been the theater of a millenary history, whose perfume can still be smelled among the ruins of Grumentum, the most important Roman town of ancient Lucania and one of the best preserved Roman sites in Italy.
